Introduction:
We ar living in a fellowship today where the word Church will bring up many contentions and unsociable remarks. The Church needs to think close to the apathy that frequents the locals, in the communities who charter non to come to a regular worship service. Alan Billings has written a give-and-take entitled, Secular Lives, Sacred Hearts, The role of the Church in a time of no religion. This book encapsulates the dilemma the Church is in and consequently the demise of a generation of Church goers. But, this book does offer hope for the spirituality of those who do not reckon church regularly. Billings states, People may live more lay lives, but they retain sacred hearts. (Billings, 2004, p. 37)
Critical Evaluation:
I agree with Billings on his creation that although people do not attend Church regularly they necessitate a champion of purpose and a heart to still connect with god and His principles. There are various reasons why people, who do not attend regular Church services, do not choose to come through the doors of a Church building.



This book approaches the theme from the prospective that people who find themselves not interested in gathering in a Church still consume themselves spiritual because they believe they are an extension of Jesus hand. They are in the communities helping people and displaying the love of Christ to those in need and who do not see this from the ga in that respectd saints. Of course, there are those who are uncaring and simply choose not to take part in anything religious, yet they should still be a part of the Churchs nurturing arm.
I have been enlighten by reading this book as it regards the concept that we as Christians have placed a demarcation amid those who come regularly to Church and those who do not.
